The 34-acre Ville de Côté Gelée will have 60 residences, a business park, many lakes, and a walking track. Being a location where people may live, work, and play is the community's aim. The early Acadian residents dubbed the Broussard region Côté Gelée, which means frozen embankment or frozen hill, after they had a particularly harsh winter there in 1784. Until 1884, when it was renamed Broussard in honor of one of its early settlers, Valsin Broussard, the region continued to go by that name.
