Nashville New Homes Directory
Settlers came to the Nashville area in 1779 and built Fort Nashborough the following year. When the town was incorporated in 1784, the name was changed to Nashville. It was governed under the Cumberland Compact, a written constitution. The city was chartered in 1806 and became the state capital in 1843.
Today, Nashville is famous as the home of the Grand Ole Opry, one of several music-oriented attractions.
