Howdy....this is Big Tex!
Many of us who grew up in the North Texas area have been to the State Fair of Texas and marveled at Big Tex. We have eaten the Fletcher's corny dogs, the funnel cake, and had the "barrel" root beer. We have visited the auto show and sat in our next dream car, and then raced over to the food and fiber building for a free sample from Borden's milk. The next stop might be the midway to ride the various carnival rides or the Texas-sized Ferris wheel, or maybe to win a prize by throwing a dart at a balloon. While you were there, maybe you even went to see the demonstrations from the sales people that rival any "as-seen-on-TV" show or you watched a talented band play on one of the many stages throughout Fair Park.
This year is no exception! The State Fair of Texas is going on now (September 30-October 23, 2011) and the Texas/OU football game, otherwise known as the Red River Rivalry, is October 8th.
If you have visited every year for your entire life, you need to spend another day wandering through Fair Park with a turkey leg in your hand. If you are new to town, you definitely should plan a day to visit the fair. You can drive to Fair Park, or you can take the DART train for an adventurous day. Once you experience the State Fair of Texas, you may just feel like a True Texan...and you will have learned about our rich history and culture here. We hope you begin to love this great state as much as the rest of us! Click http://www.bigtex.com/sft/ for the entire schedule of events.
Welcome to Texas!
